The Garden, part 1

In my Life Skills Class at school, we started a garden in a raised bed. Last year we had hard clay soil in the raised bed. But it was like working in cement, and it got harder by the day, since it was so hot.

We made a custom made growing medium that was designed by Jacob Mittleider. It has fine sand, finely ground up coconut husks, and composted soil. We added minerals like dolomite, so that the soil would be balanced.

Questions for my readers:
  1. Have you ever had a raised bed garden before?
  2. Have you used the Mittleider method before?
  3. What lessons have you learned from growing a garden in a raised bed?

We have a garden that is kind-of a raised bed. We have a chipmunk that lives in it too. We are growing beans, carrots, bok choy, tomatoes, sunflowers, and cucumbers in our tiny garden.
