The Snake That Grew Legs

Today my dad brought a snake home. He found it and caught it in our compost pile. He brought it in the compost bucket.

We didn't know what kind of snake it was. So we asked our neighbors, "What kind of snake is this?"

"It's a very poisonous snake!" they said.

We decided to take some pictures of this snake. We noticed that its' eyes blinked. Then in the photo we saw that our snake had grown front legs! It wasn't a snake at all! It was a baby lizard! We were wrong to label this lizard a snake! I was brave and I touched it. Then we let it go back in our compost pile.

To My Blog Readers:
Have you ever been mislabeled? What does that feel like?
Have you ever caught a snake that grew legs?

What a fun post, Josh! I didn't know that there were lizards who would grow legs later after looking like a snake.

I never caught snakes when I was a kid in Thailand because I was scared of snakes. I saw a few cobras when we lived in Phuket.

I'm glad we didn't see many snakes while we were in Thailand. I don't catch snakes, either. So far we haven't seen any snakes in our new home either, although Mr. JK did see a couple of dead ones in our apartment complex parking lot....

I've been kind of missing our little gecko (house lizard) friend who lived with us in Bangkok. But I am very glad we don't have any in our apartment here in Georgia! I don't think geckos and carpeting would go together very well, somehow! At least I don't think I would welcome a reptile in my house here as readily as I did in Thailand. (Funny how our brains do that do us, isn't it!?!)
