My Class at School

I am in second grade at my new school. My teacher's name is Ms. Marie. She is from the Philippines. There are 8 students in my class, 4 girls and 4 boys. Five of my classmates are Thai, one girl is from Sri Lanka, a boy is from India. Most Thais go by their nicknames because their given names are very difficult to pronounce, and there last names are very, very long and even harder to pronounce. For this reason, most adults are addressed as Mr. Tom, or Ma'am Sue, instead of using there very long last names.

I like math and Bible class because they are easy. My hardest class is Thai. I take Thai at school three days a week and it is a hard language to learn, but I am learning. It is a tonal language with 5 tones so being musical helps in learning this language.

Fruits I Like

When I moved here, I tasted these new fruits. Here are some of my favorites! If you ever have a chance to eat them, try them!
  • Pomelo: Pomelo is my favorite fruit in Thailand. I like it because it tastes like grapefruit. It’s hard to peel the thick green skin. Here's a link to learn more about the pomelo fruit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomelo
  • Mangosteen: Mangosteen is a cool fruit because the outer skin is purple, and the inside is white. It has sections like an orange. It tastes like the sweetest mango, but better. It is my second favorite fruit. Here's a link to look at mangosteen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangosteen
  • Snake fruit: Snake fruit has a spiny outer skin that feels like a snake. I like snake fruit when its in a drink. Explore more about snake fruit by going to this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snakefruit
  • Mango: Mango is a cool fruit because it has many varieties. There are many colors too. It tastes sweet and melts in your mouth at the same time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mango

Teasing is No Fun

I’ve been teased a lot at my new school. I don’t like it when people tease me. I feel upset when I am teased. I don’t want to be teased.

The people who are teasing me are just trying to get my attention.

So here is what I say to those who tease me:

• “Hey, come on! Let’s go play freeze tag or another game!

• Or I ask them, “Please stop teasing me.”

• I try to ignore their teasing way.

Jesus says "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
"
John 13:34

This Bible verse reminds me to love those who tease me.

Learning about Jesus at the Beauty Salon

I went to a beauty salon this past Sabbath afternoon. Pastor Konkrit's church plant shares Jesus with the boys and girls of this neighborhood.

The owner of this beauty salon lets use her shop! She is nice.

At this Branch Sabbath School I was brave and got up front and said my memory verse. There were a lot of boys and girls here!
We sang songs, said Bible verses, and listened to Bible stories.
It's fun to learn about Jesus at the beauty salon!

My Bunnies

Our family had four bunnies. Two of them were mine, and the other two were my brother's. My bunnies names were Snowball and Hoppy. They liked to eat vegetables, especially carrots and spinach!

Weather Forecast for tonight: A snow storm!

Where can you get snow flakes in Thailand? Our snow storm came from America in the mail. These snow flakes didn't melt! I miss the snow.
Our friends, the Coles, mailed us a snow storm. They cut out paper snowflakes for us. It was fun to hang the snow flakes up on our window in front of our air conditioner.
They sent us hot chocolate with marshmallows. It tasted so yummy. But I drank the hot chocolate too fast, and it gave me a stomach ache!

Meeting Uncle Dan from Your Story Hour

For many years I have been listening to Your Story Hour. I like Your Story Hour because they have interesting stories about history, the Bible, and life.

I met Uncle Dan in person at the Thailand Adventist Mission Centennial. He and his family used to be a missionaries here in Thailand. He was a missionary pastor. I was surprised to see how tall Uncle Dan is! His real name is Pastor Chester Damron.

I liked listening to his story he told at the Thailand Adventist Mission Centennial about the girl who was looking for the key to the golden castle.

He is a good story teller. You can listen to his stories on Your Story Hour. Click here to listen.

Petting a Tiger

I was scared at first, because the tigers were real! There were many tigers in the Tiger Canyon. They were big, scary, and freaky!

I got to pet the tiger. It had short hair and felt like a
donkey!

I thought the tiger was funny because it was eating a dog bone.
And I saw a mother tiger with her baby. The coolest part was hearing the tiger roar.

My Baby Bunnies

I like my pet bunnies. Their names are Sandy and Marble. They are very snuggly. I got them at Chatuchuck Market. The owners who we bought them from were not kind to the bunnies. They both died. They had a disease inside their bodies that killed them. So we have two funerals for Sandy and Marble. I am very sad that they died. But when Jesus comes, there will be no more death. Death will be defeated. I am looking forward to that day!

My Trip to the Bamboo School

Yesterday I went to the Bamboo School. It is near the Thailand and Myanmar (Burma) border. They study three languages; English, Thai, and Karen.

The buildings are made of bamboo from the jungle. One building I saw was made by three people who cut down 1,000 bamboo poles!

The boys and girls are learning about Jesus through their daily worship, play, and work. Some children lost their mommy or daddy in the war. Other kids are orphans.

Instead of having water from a faucet, the boys and girls had to carry their water up the hill from the village well.

My family & friends gave out Christmas presents to the students - toothbrushes and toothpaste, candy and chocolate milk. The children sang Christmas songs for us. The boys and girls said, "Thank you" to me when I have them these small gifts.

I felt happy when I gave the gifts to the boys and girls at this school.

Driving an Elephant

When you sit on top of an elephant, you can feel its muscles move. It feels like springs going up and down on your hips when the elephant walks. The skin felt like a dry rubber hose. The ears felt like a rubber tire.

To make the elephant move left, right,
or straight, the driver would talk to it in Thai. The elephant would obey, but sometimes he wouldn’t.

Right when we were approaching the river, the elephant got off the path. He went to a tree, and rubbed against it, to scratch its itch. When the driver saw the elephant rubbing against the tree, he went over to the elephant and pushed him to the side. Then he started scratching where the elephant’s itch was!

Caroling

Guest interview with Arielle

This year right before Christmas, some friends and I went caroling. We were trying to show people about JESUS.
Because, we did not see any decorations about Jesus as baby or any thing that had to do with JESUS, GOD or any thing like that! It was so sad! It was nice to see the happiness in the people faces when we were singing! People took pictures of us, and everything. I felt so embarrassed that we were singing some where when no one asked us to sing for them. But it turned out to be so fun!! 555! I love Thailand and the people in it.

How to Pick Up A Pinching Crab

We saw a crab crawling in the sand at the beach, and my Dad picked it up! It was hiding in the sand. We carefully washed off the sand on the crab, so we could see him better!

It was as big as my palm. The pinchers were white, and the legs were light greenish - yellow colored, with some red spots.
How do you pick up a crab so you don’t get pinched? You pick it up from the back, and you have to be very careful so it doesn’t pinch you with its pinchers. But you can’t pick it up too hard so as to smash the crab.

My first monkey sighting

Yesterday I saw monkeys, for the first time here in Thailand.  The monkeys were so wild.  I saw a monkey chewing on a plastic water bottle that it stole from a little child.  The monkeys were running around the park.

We were told not to look the monkeys in the eyes, since they think that they you will want to fight them!

You can not have any food in your hands, or else the monkey will come and "smile" and show you his sharp teeth.

QUESTIONS FOR MY BLOG READERS
  1. Have you ever seen a monkey?
  2. Was the monkey nice or mean?
Thanks for sharing your monkey stories!

I Miss My Pet Hamster

This is my first pet. He was a cute pet. He love to chew on his cage and his ball. And he liked to run outside, but I had to watch out for him, because the birds would try to eat him. But when we moved, we had to give him away. I am sad because I miss him. He has a nice home with Isabella now.

Laundry

In Thailand I help Mom with the laundry. I hang up the clothes outside so they can dry. Sometimes when it rains I help Mom hang up clothes inside to dry. I have fun helping Momma with the chores.

Roasted Eggs on a Stick

These are roasted eggs. The lady puts a stick through the egg, and then she roasts it over a fire in a can.

You take the shell off, and then you eat the scrambled eggs inside. I haven't tasted roasted eggs yet.
